This course delves into the folklore, rituals, and beliefs of Scotland’s ancient peoples, offering a deep dive into the stories that have shaped its cultural identity for millennia.
Your studies will offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rituals and spiritual practices of Scotland’s earliest inhabitants, taking you on a journey through sacred sites from Inverness, from the Clava Cairns, a Bronze Age burial site connected to Celtic mythology; to the Black Isle, rich with Pictish history and symbolic stones that reveal insights into pre-Christian beliefs; to the mystical Orkney Islands, an archipelago filled with Neolithic wonders like the Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, and Maeshowe.
Seminars will include an overview of the different populations that have inhabited the Scottish Isles through the centuries, the exploration of an active dig site with an archaeologist, and a discussion with an expert on standing stones, unlocking both the stories and the science behind the fascinating megaliths.
