From the Café de Flore to the streets of Montmartre, you will trace the footsteps of Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Pound, and more while delving into their work and understanding how it was influenced by the City of Light. The course includes guest talks by musicians and artists who bring the period to life, enhancing discussions of influential figures like Louis Armstrong, Josephine Baker, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and the many regulars of Gertrude Stein’s salon. Through a mix of guided walks, seminars, and interactive discussions, this course provides a deep dive into the art and literature of Paris in the Jazz Age, allowing you to experience the magic that made it the heart of modernism.
